The Whitley County Historical & Genealogical Society would like to welcome you to our website. We are still working on the site so come back often for more information and neat features.
The Whitley County Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc., is a non-profit organization that began in 1996. We are staffed by a dedicated group of volunteers who devote their time and enthusiasm. We have a current nationwide membership of over 400.
Our primary goal is to keep all the history of Whitley County and its citizens, communities and cities through preservation, documentation and education. Our outreach programs involve work with civic groups and the local school system.
Our research facility is open to members as well as the public. We offer a wide range of books, family resource sheets, and an ever expanding archives of photos. Our Research Library is operated in conjunction with our museum that enables everyone to take a leisurely tour of treasures from times past.
Our operating hours are each Wednesday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and the first and last Saturday of each month from 10:00am until 12:00 noon. If you are visiting from outside the local area, we will try to schedule special times for you.
We are located at the Old Williamsburg Depot,529 Main Street, Williamsburg, KY
